Upper Lee Valley

The Upper Lee Valley has some of London's most-deprived wards. At the same time it contains London's second largest industrial site, significant regeneration opportunities and the environmental benefits of the Lee Valley Regional Park.

With the potential to be a regionally important area for growth, stakeholders developed a shared vision for the Upper Lee Valley. The vision aims to transform the Upper Lee Valley, through public and private investment, into North London's Waterside: Making maximum use of the area's natural assets - the waterway, parkland, and its close proximity to central London - to deliver a place where people start, stay and grow.

A long term vision of the future economy of the Upper Lee Valley has also been prepared: An Economic Vision for the Upper Lee Valley. Key objectives include attracting a university to the area, growing green industries of the future, enhancing the links to Stansted and ensuring residents have the skills and support to access jobs.

To maximise the natural assets of the Upper Lee Valley, a Landscape Strategy has been developed which pulls together the concept of the single valley landscape and sets out a clear delivery plan aimed at achieving this aspiration. A summary is available or the full report can be downloaded from the Design for London website.
