North London Expresses Crossrail Levy Concerns - December 2009

North London strongly supports the construction of Crossrail and welcomes the continuing commitment to its timely delivery. It is recognised that Crossrail will have major economic, environmental and social benefits across London and the wider south east. However our members are concerned about the impact of the proposed levy on the Business Rate Supplement (BRS) to help pay for Crossrail.

As businesses are facing the most difficult economic situation for many decades, in a response to the Mayor, he is urged to consider if the BRS can be restructured to mitigate its impact.

An Economic Vision for the Upper Lee Valley - October 2009

The NLSA has launched a long term strategic vision for the future of the Upper Lee Valley: An Economic Vision for the Upper Lee Valley, at an event where Sir Simon Milton, the Deputy Mayor of London and Chief of Staff, gave a presentation on the draft Mayoral strategies and the ULV opportunity area.

Key objectives identified in the full report include attracting a university to the area, growing green industries of the future, enhancing the links to Stansted and ensuring the residents of the area have the skills and support to access these emerging jobs.

London Housing Strategy: North London Consultation Event - 3 August 2009

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is consulting on the draft London Housing Strategy, which sets out the Mayor’s vision for housing in London. The North London Strategic Alliance and the North London Housing Partnership, along with the GLA, ran a joint consultation event to inform the final policy. There were presentations made by the Greater London Authority, Genesis Homes and the NLSA.
